ELECTRONIC MEDIA USE AND YOUNG CHILDREN‘S HEALTH
This project aims to analyze the use of screen-based media among preschool-age children (aged 1.5 to 5 years old) and its effect on children’s physical and mental health; also to provide the empirically based recommendations for health care professionals and educators, teachers, caregivers, and parents about the protective and risk factors of electronic media use in early childhood.
This project was funded by Research Council of Lithuania, year 2017-2018 (agreement no. GER-006/2017).
Participants are more than 1200 Lithuanian families with toddlers and preschoolers. Two hundred children aged 4 and 5 years old have taken part in psychological testing of cognitive abilities, executive function and self-regulation.
